JD(U) MP Harivansh Narayan Singh likely to be NDA's candidate for Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman post, says sources
The election for the Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha date has been announced on Monday. IT has to take place on August 9, Thursday. Sources say the NDA-led BJP government has decided JD(US) MP Harivansh Narayan Singh, as its candidate for the forthcoming election for the Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha. However, the government is not in majority over it.
Elections to the post of deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha to be held on August 9, announced Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu in the parliament during Monsoon Session. Harivansh is likely to file his nomination for the same on August 8.
NDA chose JD(U) candidate for Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha:
As it is said, Bharatiya Janta Party and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar has decided to make a former's party MP as its candidate for the election. The move is said to be made in order to pass a message that all is well between the two parties.

Of total 245 seats; NDA holds 115 seats, UPA holds 113 seats, other parties hold 16 seats and 1 seat is empty. Now, for the majority a party needs 125 seats; which near UPA nor NDA has; therefore other parties will be in focus during the voting.
