Jaya Bachchan: No one is safe in Uttar Pradesh, 'harsh statements' reflect our helplessness

Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan has expressed frustration and helpless on the "rise in crime rates" in India. She has complained that although these developments in the country require immediate attention, eyebrows are raised for resorting to "harsh words" against the criminals and their acts.

While responding to reporters questions on "rise in crime cases" in Uttar Pradesh Jaya Bachchan said: "Where is the security in Uttar Pradesh. If I tell you the crime incidents in Uttar Pradesh, you all will be shocked". 

 

Rape survivor set on fire

A rape victim from Unnao district in Uttar was on Thursday allegedly set on fire by a group of five men, including one who was accused of the crime. Five men have been arrested in this connection.

According to reports, the woman was on her way to the railway station to catch an early morning train to Rae Bareli when she was stopped by the accused. Then the accused persons hit her head and attacked with a sharp weapon on her neck. As the woman slumped, they poured kerosene on the body and then set her on fire.

Jaya Bachchan has alleged that "members are not even allowed to raise important questions in Parliament. We don't know what to do? If we end up using harsh words, questions are raised, but our words show our frustration only," she said.

 

Jaya Bachchan on Monday in Rajya Sabha had suggested "lynching" to be a possible solution to put an end to crimes like Hyderabad gang-rape and murder case.
