Jammu and Kashmir: PDP hints grand alliance with NC and Congress to form new J&K government; says 'good news by tomorrow'

In a major, Mehbooba Mufti-led People's Democratic Front (PDP) hinted a grand alliance with National Congress (NC) and Congress in a move to form a new government in Jammu and Kashmir.

A senior PDP leader Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday claimed that an alliance of 60 MLAs from Congress, People's Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conference (NC) has been made to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir and people will get to hear good news soon.

"If we are coming together, then it is to protect people", said Altaf Bhukhari of the PDP.

“My leadership has confirmed it to us that the three parties (Congress, PDP & NC) have agreed to make a coalition to defend the special identity of the state politically and legally,” Bukhari said.

"Very soon, you will get good news," Bukhari told ANI, a news agency.

Bukhari further said that the alliance has been formed to protect the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, Article  370 and Article 35A.

"We have to keep communal forces at bay. To Keep BJP Away, we are coming together to form a government. Depends whether the governor will dissolve assembly before that or will allow them to form govt. but people will get good news by tomorrow," Altaf Bukhari said.

"An alliance has been made with over 60 MLAs of congress PDP and NC on board to protect our special identity. I have no details about the contours of the alliance but it is to protect the special status, 370 and 35A," he added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party called-off its alliance with the Mufti's PDP in June this year.
