J&K: Blast in car near soldiers convoy in Ramban's Banihal on Srinagar Highway
Blast in car in Jammu and Kashmir's Banihal on Srinagar Highway on Saturday, reported news agency ANI. The blast occurred near military convoy that was passing at a significant distance. No casualities have been reported yet. The driver of the car is missing.
Police said it was a cylinder blast that occurred occurred inside a private Santro car at Tethar, destroying the vehicle.
According to news agency ANI report, "CRPF sources say convoy was at a significant distance from the explosion site, does not appear to be an attack. Investigations on."
"Today around 1030 hrs, an explosion took place in a civil car near Banihal, J&K while CRPF convoy was on move. The car caught fire & slight damage was caused in the rear of one of the CRPF vehicle. No injuries were caused to CRPF Personnel. Incident being investigated," CRPF said in a statement.
Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar highway has been stopped following the blast. "There was no loss of life... The driver of the car, who was the lone occupant, appears to have escaped," the officer said.
