J-K: 2 Jaish terrorists killed in Kashmir Valley’s Shopian encounter; operation underway
After India strikes Balakot terrorist camp across LoC, Pakistan violated ceasefire in Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. In the encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces, two terrorists were gunned down. According to ANI reports, two terrorist belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammed were killed early this morning.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Meemendar area of Shopian after getting information about the presence of terrorists there, officials said. After Shopian, Pakistan Army violated ceasefire in the Uri sector earlier Wednesday morning.
The officials said after they started search operation, terrorists opened fire towards the security forces and it turned into the encounter, who retaliated. In exchange of fire, 5 soldiers of Indian Army suffered minor injuries out of which 2 soldiers were evacuated to Military Hospital for medical treatment and are in stable condition.
The gunfight between the security forces and terrorists comes a day after India air strikes and completely destroyed Jaish-e-Mohammed's (JeM) biggest training camp in Balakot, across the Line of Control (LoC), killing a ‘large number’ of the terrorists, trainers and senior commanders of Jaish.
According to initial reports, Over 300 terrorists including Jaish chief Masood Azhar's brother-in-law Yusuf Azhar were killed.
