IPL Terror Plot: Terrorists may attack players in Mumbai; security agencies on high alert
The world’s richest and most famous T20 tournament, Indian Premier League is under the cloud of terror threat. Security agencies are on high alert after they got the information from sources of intelligence bureau. According to their sources, IPL players might be attacked at Hotel, parkings or on their way to stadium.
The attack might take place in Mumbai as per the sources of Anti-Terror Squad (ATS). ATS recently conducted some raids on suspected terrorists and they are banking on information they got from them. Terrorists revealed during interrogation that they did a recce from Hotel Trident to Wankhede Stadium, looking for a place to attack.
Security agencies have issued an alert and asked Mumbai police to increase security of team Hotels and players. They have also asked for Marksman Combat Vehicles (MCVs) to escort the team bus to the stadium. Mumbai police have alerted the players and asked them not to leave the Hotel without security.
The terror threat is also being taken seriously after the deadly Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) soldiers in Jammu & Kashmir. Recently, a terror attack took place in New Zealand’s Christchurch mosque where Bangladesh cricket team escaped narrowly. In 2009, Sri Lanka cricket team was also attacked in Pakistan when a group of terrorist stormed the team bus while their way to stadium.
