Indian diplomacy doing wonders: UNSC list of terrorists includes both Dawood and Hafiz Saeed; features 139 entries from Pakistan

The United Nations Security Council's (UNSC) comes up with an updated list of people it has designated as 'terrorists' features. The list has 139 new entries from Pakistan alone, many from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) reported Dawn newspaper. The list also features prominent names such as Dawood Ibrahim and Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed.

According to the Council, Dawood has held several Pakistani passports issued in Rawalpindi and Karachi, CNN-News18 reported. The agency also claims that Dawood owns a palatial bungalow in Karachi.

The Mumbai 26/11 terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed has been featured as a personnel wanted by the Interpol for being involved in terror activities.

According to Dawn, the list includes all those individuals who have either lived in Pakistan, operated from there or have been associated with organisations that used Pakistani territory to carry out their operations.

Ayman al-Zawahiri, the heir apparent of Osama bin Laden, is also listed as a terrorist by UNSC. The UN data asserted that he is hiding somewhere “in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border area”. The UN list has also identified several of his aides, who the UN believe are hiding with him.

The LeT is listed with its various aliases, such as al-Mansoorian, Paasban-i-Kashmir, Paasban-i-Ahle Hadith, Jamaatud Dawa and Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation.
The UNSC featured in its list include Al Rasheed Trust, Harkatul Mujahideen, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, Wafa Humanitarian Organisation, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Rabita Trust, Ummah Tameer-i-Nau, Afghan Support Committee, Revival of Islamic Heritage Society, Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, Al-Harmain Foundation, Islamic Jihad Group, Al Akhtar Trust International, Harkatul Jihad Islami, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, Jamaatul Ahrar and Khatiba Imam Al-Bukhari.

Some of them are listed as based in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border area.
