India records highest single-day rise in COVID-19 cases in six months
India has recorded a surge in daily COVID-19 infections, with 5,335 new cases reported in the past 24 hours. This is a significant increase from the 4,435 cases recorded the day before, according to the Union health ministry.
Upward Trend in Daily Infections
In the past few days, India has seen a rise in daily COVID-19 infections, with figures ranging from 2,994 on April 1 to 4,435 on April 5. The latest figure of 5,335 new cases marks the highest single-day increase in the last six months.
Active Cases and Recovery Rate
India's active COVID-19 caseload stands at 25,587, with a daily positivity rate of 3.32 per cent, the health ministry said. The total number of recoveries stands at 4,41,82,538, with 2,826 recoveries in the last 24 hours. India's recovery rate is currently at 98.75 per cent.
Nationwide Vaccination Drive
Under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, India has administered 220.66 crores COVID-19 vaccine doses to date, with 1,993 doses administered in the past 24 hours.
Weekly Positivity Rate
The ministry also stated that the weekly positivity rate currently stands at 2.89 per cent.
