'I'm not Indira Gandhi, but...': Priyanka Gandhi on being compared with grandmother
As the third phase of Lok Sabha election is scheduled to take place on April 23, the Congress seems to hold the ground with its star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi who, in a statement has said, that she isn’t Indira Gandhi.
Congress, which has decided to go all alone in the Lok Sabha polls, is eying to win big in this election and has taken upon the BJP and the Gathbandhan of SP-BSP-RLD. But, the major worry for the grand old party remains a weak worker base and almost dismantled organisation.
Priyanka Gandhi, while rallying in Kanpur, said “I am nothing in front of Indiraji but the desire for service that lived in her heart lives in the hearts of me and my brother (Congress president Rahul Gandhi) too. Nobody can take that out of us. We will continue to serve you, whether you let us or not.”
Former Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal is contesting on the Congress ticket, who had lost the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, to BJP’s veteran leader Murli Manohar Joshi. The BJP has not given a ticket to Joshi in this polls.
Priyanka attacked the BJP government stating that “Governments are of two types... one that works for the people and those that care only for its own progress. The BJP government is all about publicity and showing off.”
UP will be voting in all the seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls, wherein the two phases have been concluded with 16 seats on offer. The Central and Eastern UP, which holds the nerve, will go under the hammer now.
