Hemant Karkare’s daughter on Pragya Thakur comment: Don’t want to dignify her remark
Days after the Malegaon blast ‘prime’ accused and BJP’s Bhopal candidate Sadhvi Pragya Thakur made controversial remarks against late Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare, his daughter broke her silence and said that she does not want to dignify her statement.
Jui Navare, daughter of 26/11 terror attack hero in an interview with The Sunday Express said that she wants everyone to remember that “even in his death he was trying to save his city, his country”.
Navare said she has gone through all the controversial remark made by the Sadhvi Pragya Thakur about her father “on social media”. Reacting to them she said, “I do not want to dignify her or her statement.”
“ I only want to talk about Hemant Karkare. He was a role model and his name should be taken with dignity,” Navare added.
Hemant Karkare was Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) chief died fighting terrorists in 26/11 Mumbai attack. Two weeks ago, after joining BJP and being named as BJP’s candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat, Pragya Thakur made a derogatory remark against Karkare. She has said that he had died because she cursed him for ill-treating her during the investigation of Malegaon blast of which, Thakur is prime accused.
“He taught us that terrorism has no religion. No religion teaches anyone to kill each other… it’s the ideology that has to be defeated. In his life, in his 24-year career in the police, he helped everyone. Even in his death, he was trying to save his city, his country. He loved his uniform and placed it before us and before his own life. I just want everyone to remember that,” she said.
The 38-year-old Navare is the eldest daughter of Hemant Karkare and is settled in the US with her husband and two daughters.
