Gurugram family attacked by mob, withdraws complaint; states accused as innocent in affidavits

The Gurugram Muslim family, who was brutally attacked by a mob and were asked to go to Pakistan has withdrawn FIR against the accused. According to Times Now reports, the accused and victim have reached an understanding. The complainant submitted affidavits stating that the accused are innocent.

The family was attacked last month on Holi evening by a mob of over 40 men barged into the home armed with swords and lathis in Bhoop Singh Nagar in Gurugram.

On 23rd March, the incident soared after boys of the family, who were playing cricket outside were asked by some men to ‘go to Pakistan’ and play. The attack was captured on a mobile phone by one of the victims and the video had gone viral on social media. The victim was identified as Mohammad Sajid.

The complaint was registered by the victim’s nephew, Dilshad and affidavit were submitted on April 8. In the affidavits, Dilshad stated that the accused "has not done any violence with us" and has in turn "saved" the family from the mob. Rajsingh alias Amit, the accused had helped the victims in going to the hospital, states affidavits.

We have agreed to an understanding and that if they want to survive in the society, they have to listen to it, Shajid told the Indian Express. He added that he wanted the families of the two parties to remain "intact".
