Gurmeet Ram Rahim and 4 others convicted in Journalist Ram Chander murder case; sentence to be pronounced on Jan 17
Gurmeet Ram Rahim and 4 others have been convicted in the murder of Journalist Ram Chander Chhatarpati, who was killed in 2001-02.
The case was being heard in the CBI special court in Panchkula in Haryana. The court has held all 4 guilty of killing and conspiring in the murder of journalist Ram Chander, who was investigating the case of Ram Rahim at journalistic level.
News agency ANI has tweeted that “All four including Gurmeet Ram Rahim convicted in Journalist Ram Chander Chhatarpati murder case, by CBI Spl Court in Panchkula. Sentence to be pronounced on January 17.”
CBI also informed the Court that requisite sanctions to prosecute certain public servants, accused in the case, have been obtained.
Journalist Ram Chander’s son has been fighting the case since then and had received many threats earlier as well by the followers of Gurmeet Ram Rahim, as per the sources.
The security was beefed up by the Haryana Police in order to maintain the discipline and law and order in and around the city, as last time stampede and ruckus had been created.
