Girl dies crying 'bhaat bhaat' after PDS shop denied food for not linking ration card with Aadhar
In yet another incident of food starvation, a 11-year-old girl reportedly lost her lie after she was denied food by local PDS (Public Distribution System) shop since their ration card was not linked with Aadhar card.
The incident took place in BJP's ruling state Jharkhand.
According to the reports of News18, the girl named Santoshi Kumari was passed on 28th September and the tragedy went unreported.
Under National Food Security Act, people those who are below the poverty line are entitled to gain subsidised grains.
And reports also suggests that Santoshi comes from a family who can't afford their three time meal and are dependent on the supplies from the ration shops.
Her father is mentally ill therefore Santoshi's mother and sister earn bread and butter for family by earning merely Rs 80-90 per day.
The victim's mother Koyali Devi said: “The PDS shop struck out names from the ration list. They were asking for our Aadhaar number, which we did not have.”
Noticibly, the officials of the authorities claiming that the death occurred due to Malaria.
According to the victim's mother, the girl died crying “bhaat bhaat” (food).
Meanwhile, Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das communicated his sympathies over the disastrous occurrence.
