Ghaziabad: Naveen Das, Aam Aadmi Party worker charred to death after his SUV car caught fire; family alleges murder
Aam Aadmi Party worker, Naveen Das was charred to death in his after his SUV car caught fire. The incident reportedly took place near Sahibabad near Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
The body of Das was found in his burned car in a secluded spot in Bhopra on the road leading to Loni from Sahibabad, an officer said, adding that the police estimated the fire to have occurred around 2.30 am.
The 25-year old das burned body was found on the driver's seat, a police officer said. An unscathed mobile phone was recovered from inside the vehicle. Whatsapp messages till 4.30 a.m. were found on it, the officer added.
The family of the deceased has alleged murder and case has been registered. They suspect that whoever had killed him might have called him to the deserted spot, locked him inside the car before torching the vehicle.
Meanwhile, car keys are missing and it is said that Das would have failed to roll down the power windows or escape by unlocking the doors. Das spoke to his sister last around 12.30 a.m. as they discussed plans for renting a house in Delhi, superintendent of police (City) Shlok Kumar told IANS.
A criminal case has been registered against unknown persons in Sahibabad police station.
