FIR registered against Hyderabad journalist Swathi Vadlamudi over Ram-Sita Cartoon

Kathua gang-rape case took place in Rasana village near Jammu& Kashmir has again created rampage in the country. The minor was abducted from the village on January 10. The Nirbhaya brutal rape case which took place in 2012 since than nothing has changed in the country.

After the Asifa rape case got exposed, people across the country organised rallies and protest in New Delhi, Mumbai, and other cities, urging government to take some action against the rapist involved in the case.

People across the country are signing petitions, organising online campaigns and rallies. People are sending invites on social media, strongly-worded messages and spine chilling cartoons. A woman journalist from Hyderabad has landed in a deep trouble after she made a cartoon depicting Lord Ram and his queen Sita to convey her message on women's safety.

The cartoon depicts Sita commenting to Lord Ram on the Kathua gang-rape case of an eight-year-old Asifa Banu and the Unnao teen who has alleged rape by a BJP lawmaker.

The journalist Swathi Vadlamudi, shared the cartoon on social media last week. The cartoon went viral on social media within hours, where people encouraged and abused the journalist.

She was threatened in a Charlie Hebdo-style attack; the case took place in January 2015 when 12 people were killed when the French weekly magazine's Paris office published a satirical cartoon on Prophet Mohammed.

Her Facebook post also mentioned Journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was shot dead outside her home in Bengaluru last year.

Ms Vadlamudi wrote on Facebook:

Hindu Sanghatan's president and advocate Kashimshetty Karuna Sagar filed a complaint against her for "hurting the sentiments of Hindus". Her cartoon has been termed as "offensive" and "derogatory".

Journalist Ahmed Shabbir's name is also there in the complaint list as he shared the cartoon on social media.

A case has been registered.

Sattaiah, a police officer in Saidabad, told news agency ANI, "A case was registered against Ahmed Shabbir. Sagar again approached us on April 15 and requested to include Swathi's name in the FIR, which was registered on April 13. Action will be initiated after the enquiry."
