Father of captured IAF Pilot Abhinandan: 'Son talked like a true soldier, hope he returns home safe'
As tension between India and Pakistan escalates, IAF’s Wing Commander Abhinandan’s father Air Marshal (retd) S Varthaman has stated that his son is a “true soldier” and hopes that he returns “home safely.”
Air Marshal (retd) S Varthaman, in a statement has said, “Thank you my friends for your concern and wishes. I thank God for his blessings, Abhi is alive, not injured, sound in mind, just look at the way he talked so bravely…a true soldier…we are so proud of him.”
The veteran IAF personnel and father of Abhinandan further added, “I am sure all your hands and blessings are on his head…prayers for his safe return. I pray that he does not get tortured and comes home safe and sound in body and mind.”
He later on thanked everyone, including the citizens to be with the family in the hour of need, saying, “We draw our strengths from your support and energy”
Pakistan had captured IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman while his MiG was shot down during the aerial warfare between the two countries. The Geneva Convention of 1949 was being sighted after this as a Prisoner of War has to be released as the situation normalizes.
