Engineering student murder case: Ex BSP MLA's son arrested in Lucknow

A young man apprehended this morning in connection to the murder of an engineering student in Lucknow on Thursday is son of a former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA, according to government sources.

The murder of Prashant Singh (23) on Thursday afternoo was captured on CCTV camera in an apartment complex.

Prashant Singh had reportedly gone to meet his sister at an apartment complex at Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar area when a group of men, who had been waiting for him, stabbed him.

Earlier, Aman Bahadur, the main accused in the incident, was nabbed. He is son of ex-BSP MLA, as per sources in the state govt.

The CCTV footage displays a group of men stopping a Toyota Innova car and attacking two men who were sitting inside the car. Few seconds later, Prashant Singh, who was stabbed, rushed out of the car and enters the building.

He collapses on the stairs of the apartment complex.

Following the attack, Prashant was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Police has called it a case of personal enmity. Prashant reportedly had a fight with his junior in college on Wednesday when he had gone to attend his friend’s birthday, as per officials.

The victim's friend had told the police that Prashant's junior in college could be behind the murder.
