Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera producer, accused of raping show’s actress, sentenced 7 years jail by special women’s court
A special women’s court sentenced TV executive producer Mukesh Mishra to seven years imprisonment for raping a 31-year-old woman. The victim was an actress in the production unti of his Hindi TV serial Ek Veer ki Ardaas..Veer.
PTI quoted additional public prosecutor Ashwini Rayakar as saying “Additional session’s judge K S Hore convicted him and awarded seven years' prison term”.
The court found Mishra guilty under IPC sections 376 (rape) and 506(II) (criminal intimidation) after the prosecution examined nine witnesses of the incident.
In her complaint, the actress said that on December 12, 2012, Mishra had asked her to reach Jogeshwari station on December 12, 2012 where a bus was supposed to pick her artists. When she reached the spot, she found Mishra there. Mishra persuaded her to go with him on his bike since the bus was getting late.
When they reached the studio, no one was there except for the sweeper. When she went to her make-up room, Mishra also went after her and assaulted her sexually.
In her complaint with the police, she also had alleged that Mishra threatened to kill her daughter and assassinate her character if she narrated the incident to anyone. Later, he also sought sexual favours from her but she declined.
It was in 2013; she mustered courage and shared it with her husband who is journalist and small-time film director. After he complained with the management, Mishra was sacked. Later an FIR was registered against Mishra on charges of rape and criminal intimidation.
