Doubts raised over Rafale verdict as 'Attorney General lied before the SC, must be summoned by the PAC'

The decision in the Rafale deal is getting highly challenged by the Opposition and the petitioners and doubts are being raised over the confusing verdict.

The Supreme Court has clearly stated on the pricing issue that “We have examined closely the price details and the IGA and the earlier contract The petitioners say there is a price advantage, It is not the job of the court to look into pricing as the material is to be kept confidential. Perception of individuals cannot be the basis of roving inquiry by the court.”

In a highly contesting decision, the Supreme Court has said that the pricing report was tabled in the parliament as it was in the possession of CAG and PAC but the clouds of doubt are being raised on this issue because the information which Attorney General submitted before the Supreme Court was misleading and false as no such report ever got placed in parliament, and neither the CAG and nor the PAC are in possession of the report.

Today, Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal has said that, “Government is responsible for giving wrong facts to the Supreme Court. I think the Attorney General should be called before the PAC and be asked why wrong facts were presented. This is a very serious matter.”

Sibal further added that “We have been very clear that Supreme Court was not an appropriate forum on which these issues can be decided, as it cannot summon and examine file notings, witnesses on oath, including questioning the Prime Minister, and we need to question the PM.”
