DMK MPs stage protest in Parliament over NEP, three-language formula

New Delhi: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi and other DMK MPs staged a protest in Parliament on Tuesday against the National Education Policy (NEP), the three-language issue, and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s remarks on the matter.

DMK accuses Centre of imposing Hindi on Tamil Nadu
The DMK opposes the NEP, particularly the three-language formula, claiming it is an attempt to impose Hindi on Tamil Nadu. Kanimozhi criticised the Centre for allegedly withholding funds until the state agrees to the policy, accusing it of jeopardising the future of Tamil Nadu’s children.

Congress backs DMK, slams Centre over NEP
Congress MP K Suresh also criticised the central government, alleging that the NEP was implemented without consulting state governments and academicians. He accused the Centre of attempting to "saffronise" the education system and stated that Tamil Nadu had always opposed the three-language policy.

War of words between DMK and Dharmendra Pradhan
A heated exchange took place between DMK leaders and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after he called the Tamil Nadu government "dishonest" and its people "uncivilised." Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin strongly condemned Pradhan’s remarks, accusing him of arrogance and disrespecting the state’s people.

DMK protest leads to Parliament adjournment
The DMK staged a protest against Pradhan’s remarks, leading to an adjournment of proceedings in the Lok Sabha. Pradhan defended his statements, accusing the DMK of prioritising politics over students' welfare and creating language barriers.
