Diwali is one of the most awaited festivals in India and it is usually celebrated for five days. Every day of Diwali has its own significance, the first day of Diwali is celebrated as Dhanteras.
Dhanteras, also known as Dhanatryodashi, will be celebrated on 17 October this year. It is believed that buying gold or silver on this day brings fortune in one's life because 'Dhan' means wealth and 'teras' means the thirteenth day of the moon cycle. Therefore, this is the festival of wealth, which is celebrated in the month of Kartik as well as on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha.
You have always heard about what to buy on Dhanteras but, today, we are going to tell you what one should not buy on this festival.
Here are the things that must be avoided on Dhanteras:
1. Don't buy products made from glass as well as avoid buying crockery set on this day. It is believed that things made from glass belongs to Rahu and if you still need to buy, then keep in mind that the stuff should be absolutely transparent.
2. Don't purchase products made from Aluminium because it is also related to Rahu.
3. Do not buy knives, scissors and ironware on this day at all.
On the occasion of Dhanteras, it is considered auspicious that a person buys gold but instead of gold ornaments, one may also go for diamond and silver ornaments to make this occasion even more memorable and auspicious.
