Dera Sacha rape case: CBI court to pronounce judgement on Aug 25

The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court will give its final judgment on August 25 over the 14 year-old rape case against the Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Speaking on the issue, Advocate SK Garg told ANI, "The arguments are over and the court has reserved its judgement. It has fixed the date on August 25 for the pronouncement of the order and the accused would remain present in the court on that day according to the direction of the court."

He further stated that the court has fixed the date after hearing to the arguments from both the parties.

Gurmeet, who was not present in Thursday's hearing, has been ordered to be present in the court on August 25.

The sexual exploitation case against the Dera chief was registered in 2002 by the CBI on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court after anonymous letters were circulated about the alleged sexual exploitation of female followers by Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

The letter alleged that the two female followers were raped by the Dera chief. Both the victims had recorded their statements before the court and had confirmed that they were raped. Their statements are part of the CBI chargesheet which was filed on July 30, 2007 in the CBI special court.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim has denied the charges and has also told the court that he is not 'capable' of making physical relations.
