AAP's Sanjay Singh alleges unauthorised movement of EVMs

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday cited videos to substantiate their claim that attempts are being made to tamper with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) from the assembly elections. Senior party leader Sanjay Singh, who made the claim, tweeted a couple of video clips, saying they were of voting machines being illegally taken away.

"Does the reserve (forces) not go with the EVM? This official was caught with an EVM by people at Saraswati Vidya Niketan School in Babarpur assembly constituency," read the tweet with one of the videos.

The other clip, which displayed EVMs being carried across a street, read, "The EC should also probe where these EVMs are being taken. There are no centres nearby".

However, the Election Commission officials said all the EVMs used for the polls have been sealed in front of the party agents and have been brought to the secure room straight from the polling booths.

"All EVMs that were used for the polls have been accounted for. EVMs have been stored safely with police protection in centres and party agents are also allowed to stay outside the centre if they wish," an official told NDTV.

Exit polls have prophesied that Aam Aadmi Party will win clear majority and form the government.

But after the election concluded yesterday, AAP has been on the alert regarding the EVMs. Late in the evening, the party claimed that it received information that officials were trying to take away EVMs in an ‘unauthorised way’.

"Information has been received that officials are trying to take away EVMs at several places in an unauthorised manner. The EVMs should have been sealed and have gone straight to strongrooms. How are these machines with the officials?" AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Late in the evening, Arvind Kejriwal convened a meeting with senior party leaders, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Prashant Kishor to discuss the safekeeping of the EVMs.
