Delhi Anaj Mandi Fire: CM Kejriwal announces Rs 10 lakh compensation for kin of deceased
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the kin of the deceased. The govt has ordered a probe into the fire incident and sought reports within seven days.
"It is a very sad incident. I have ordered a magisterial inquiry into it. Compensation Rs 10 lakhs each to be given to families of those dead and Rs 1 lakh each to those injured. The expense of medical treatment of those injured to be borne by the govt, " said Kejriwal.
BJP has also announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakhs each to families of those who have lost their lives and Rs 25000 to injured. BJP MP from North East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari has visited Delhi fire incident announced the compensation.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also expressed his deepest condolences to the kin of those who lost their lives in the fire mishap and said he was saddened by the tragic incident.
Taking to Twitter, Rahul wrote in Hindi: "Saddened at the news that a massive fire in the Anaj Mandi area of Delhi has claimed many lives and left several people injured."
"I extend my deepest condolences to the families of those killed and wish for the speedy recovery (of the injured)," he said.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday expressed his deepest condolences to the kin of those who lost their lives in a massive fire here at a factory at Anaj Mandi on Rani Jhansi Road and said he was saddened by the tragic incident.
Taking to Twitter, Rahul wrote in Hindi: "Saddened at the news that a massive fire in the Anaj Mandi area of Delhi has claimed many lives and left several people injured."
"I extend my deepest condolences to the families of those killed and wish for the speedy recovery (of the injured)," he said.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the incident as "extremely horrific". Union Home Minister Amit Shah instructed concerned authorities to provide all possible assistance on an urgent basis.
Conveying deepest condolences with the kin of the deceased, Shah tweeted, "Tragic loss of precious lives in the fire accident in New Delhi. My deepest condolences with families of those who have lost their loved ones."
The Home Minister also prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
He said that he has "instructed concerned authorities to provide all possible assistance on an urgent basis."
CM Kejriwal described the fire incident as tragic and said firemen were doing their best.
"V v tragic news. Rescue operations going on. Firemen doing their best. Injured are being taken to hospitals," the chief minister said in a tweet.
Notably, the fire, which erupted due to a short-circuit, has been doused and rescue efforts are underway. Many people trapped inside were rescued and rushed to RML Hospital, LNJP, and Hindu Rao Hospital, fire officials said.
The fire was reported at around 5:22 AM following which 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Chaotic scenes were witnessed at the site of the fire incident with relatives and locals rushing to the area.
