Dehradun School Gangrape Case: Boarding school officials tried to abort the foetus of rape victim after finding her pregnant
Another shocking development comes to light in the Dehradun’s boarding school gangrape case that school tried to abort the foetus of the 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by four classmates.
Yes, the authorities of the boarding school tried to get the foetus aborted when they discovered that the girl was pregnant after the rape, said Police.
According to the Investigation officer Naresh Rathod, the school authorities have taken the girl to the clinic for an abortion.
However, the rape of the girl happened on 14th August on the school premises, but it comes to light on 16th September after the Dehradun’s senior superintendent of police (SSP) Nivedita Kureti was tipped-off about the alleged rape and ordered an investigation.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the school’s director, principal, administration officer, his wife and hostel caretaker for alleged destroying the evidence. Police have registered the case under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
Earlier on 14th August, two of the accused classmates told the 16-year-old girl that her teacher is calling her. She went with them and later, she caught by the two other accused who were her seniors. The four of them had raped the girl and also threatened her not to inform anyone about the incident.
However, the victim had informed to the hostel caretaker. Instead of taking any action against the four boys, she asked the girl to remain silent and don’t inform anyone, said Police officials.
The AO and his wife also asked the girl to keep silent and also started giving some home-made solutions to drink. They were also planning that in case she got pregnant they would abort the foetus. The school director and principal also informed about the incident but they didn’t inform her parents, even threatened to rusticate her from the school.
When the girl realized that she got pregnant, then she told the hostel caretaker who then informed the school administration. The girl had then informed her elder sister, who also studied in the same school.
The elder sister drew the attention of school authorities who tried to hush up the mater and tried to abort the pregnancy, said Ashok Kumar, additional director general of police (Law and Order), according to news agency PTI.
Once again, the school authorities asked to remain silent and also took the girl to the clinic for an abortion.
Somehow, SSP came to know about the whole incident from sources.
“The police then called her parents to know if they were aware about the abortion. They said they were told by the school administration that she had a stomach ache for which they had taken her to the clinic. The parents then reached Dehradun on Monday morning and spoke to her, on which she narrated her ordeal,” he said.
