Cyrus Mistry car crash: This picture holds the key to deciphering the tragic death

Cyrus Mistry died in the car crash on Sunday. The picture shared above shows the airbags worked well and saved the life of the two passengers in the front seat during the collision. The seat belt kept the passengers in a position to help airbags reduce the impact sustained from the crash.

During a crash at high speed, the passengers could be propelled in any direction, resulting in fatal head injuries. In such situations, even if the airbags open in time, head injuries sustained after the crash claim numerous lives.

According to reports Cyrus Mistry and the other passengers were not wearing their seat belts while sitting in the rear of the car. The car crash at high speed must have flung them forward, making their heads crash against window panes and ceilings.

Car passengers sitting in the rear believe that during a collision they are safe because of the distance from the impact. But the passenger's body remains in motion when a moving car comes to a sudden halt. This causes the maximum injury as the rear seat passengers end up banging their heads against the windshield or car ceiling.

Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra group has tweeted his resolve to "always wear [his] seat belt even when in the rear seat of a car" after news reports said that Mistry and a co-passenger who was with him in the back seat weren't wearing seatbelts.

Seatbelts are a must for all the passengers travelling in a car. There is a need to spread awareness to minimise fatalities in car accidents.
