Coronavirus: Agra hospital spreads Covid-19 infection in 10 districts, FIR filed under Epidemic Act

With the number of Covid-19 positive cases having gone past the 170 mark in Agra, the district administration is not dissenting from the possibility of this number escalating further.

Already, the administration is keeping in sight 803 more people whose screening and blood sampling are being conducted. All these suspected cases have been quarantined and the area where they live have been put under a 24 hour observation.

Talking to India Today, District Magistrate Agra Prabhu N Singh stated that there are four main challenges ahead of the administration. The first and the largest group in the district is the Tablighi Jamaat and its connections.

The second largest group is Paras hospital which has spread Covid-19 through the adjacent 10 to 12 districts. An FIR has been registered against its owner and manager of the hospital under the Epidemic Act.

According to the District Magistrate there are a total of 57 hotspots in Agra, of which 11 will be unmarked shortly as there have been no new cases in these areas. The administration has placed the demand for 10,000 PPE kits. Currently, there are 3,195 kits and 2,000 N-95 face masks available.

He stated that instructions have been furnished to the SN Medical College administration to switch off central air condetioning in the hospital because it could be spreading coronavirus through the wards. Dr Balveer Singh, Isolation ward in-charge stated that the central ac has been exchange with fans.

So far, 172 cases have been reported in Agra, cases have been located in the remote areas of the district including Saiyyan, Shamshabad, Fatehpur Sikri and Bah.

Villages are being kept under constant watch so that no coronavirus patients are left in these villages that may further spread the infection. Regional Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Circle officers have been asked to stay keen-eyed and keep tabs of the lockdown violators.
