Congress stages protest as Ad mocking Sonia, Rahul Gandhi goes viral

Congress party workers protested at the office of Storia Foods in Mumbai on April 27 over the company's new social media advertisement that was published on Monday. The commercial, which poked fun at Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, prompted rage and fury among party workers and was later removed from YouTube following the issue.

In the commercial, a woman seated at her desk in the office said, as a man dressed in white attire and a black coat, stepped in. The party office displayed a symbol that was quite similar to that of the Congress. The resemblance to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi did not miss people’s eye.

The actor in the commercial also says, “Khatam,” inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s speech in 2019 during which he had said, "Khatam, bye-bye, tata, good-bye, gaya,” while speaking about Make in India.

The actor impersonates Rahul Gandhi’s gestures and speaks in a voice similar to that of the Congress leader.

The commercial went rife. Congress workers created a ruckus outside the Storia Foods office while also raising slogans. Police officials tried to control the crowd as can be seen in a video posted by news agency ANI.

“Congress workers held a protest today at the #Mumbai office of Storia Foods over the company's recent advertisement allegedly mocking Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi,” ANI tweeted.

Storia Foods is yet to issue an official statement in response.
