Citizenship Act: Committed to protect all genuine Indian citizen, says Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday said we are committed to protesting all genuine Indian citizens and the people of Assam.
Taking to Twitter account CM Sonowal said: "I call upon all sections of the society to thwart the elements who are misleading the people on #CAA and indulging in violence and together continue the growth journey of Assam."
On the other hand, the curfew which was imposed in the wake of protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act has been relaxed from 7 am to 4 pm.
Protests erupted in Dibrugarh and other parts of Assam following the passage of CAB, in the Parliament on December 11, and it becomes an Act thereupon after the Presidential assent in the following day.
On Saturday, internet services across Assam were suspended till December 16 to prevent alleged misuse of social media in disturbing the peace and to maintain law and order in the state, officials said.
Suspension of internet services has been extended for another 48 hours keeping in view the prevailing law and order situation in the state.
