Chhattisgarh Congress govt renames 5 RSS ideologue schemes after Indira and Rajiv Gandhi; ex-CM Raman Singh to protest
After dethroning Raman Singh-led BJP government from Chhattisgarh, who was ruling over a decade, the newly-formed Congress government-led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has rechristened five schemes named after late RSS leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
Congress government have named these scehemes of urban administration and development department after the former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and architect of the Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar.
However, the BJP has expressed its unhappiness on Congress govt changing names of schemes, saying the step indicated "political vindictiveness".
The order to rename the schemes was issued on Monday night, a senior government official told PTI.
According to reports in IndiaToday, Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Swavlamban Yojna has been renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Swavlamban Yojna. Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Sarvasamaj Manglik Bhavan Yojna will now be known as Dr BR Ambedkar Sarvasamaj Manglik Bhavan Yojna.
On the same way, Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya LED Path Prakash Yojna will be now known as ndira Priyadarshini LED Path Prakash Yojna. Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Ajivika Kendra (livelihood centre) Yojna is now Rajiv Gandhi Ajivika Kendra Yojna. Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Shuddh Peyjal (clean drinking water) Yojna has been renamed as Indira Priyadarshini Shudhh Peyjal Yojna.
Raman Singh, former chief minister and senior BJP leader Raman Singh said that they will be protesting against the Congress government’s move during the ongoing session of the Chhattisgarh assembly.
"The state government deliberately rechristened schemes named after Pt Deendayal Upadhyayaji on his death anniversary, which was observed on Monday (February 11). This reflects Congress' mentality," Singh said in a statement.
"Without making any new provisions, they have just renamed the schemes which clearly indicates that it's a new episode of 'Badlapur' (vindictive politics)," he alleged. Raman Singh was Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh since 2003 till 2018.
