Burnt with cigarettes, forced to eat meat: Woman alleges torture by husband for resisting religious conversion
In a shocking incident that has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, a woman alleged that she had been tortured with frequent beatings, burnt with cigarette butts and forced to eat meat by her husband when she objected to her religious conversion.
The woman has alleged that her husband, identified as Chand Mohammad, hid his religious identity, presented himself as a Hindu and fraudulently married her. The woman accused Mohammed impersonated Sani Maurya to marry her, after which they started living in rented accommodation.
The woman alleged that the man sexually assaulted her, burnt her with cigarette butts and poured hot oil on her when she objected to accept Islam. She claimed that he also threatened to kill and get her raped by his relatives if she registered a police complaint against him.
Whenever the woman made an attempt to register a complaint by running away from the house, the man would lock her in their room and beat her up, the victim alleged. She also claimed that she had a miscarriage when Mohammad hit her in her stomach when she was five-month pregnant.
The victim has now been rescued by a one-stop centre, and she will file a police complaint shortly.
