BJP condemns 'misconceptions' about GST, demonetisation in 'Mersal'
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu chief Tamilisai Soundararajan has condemned the 'misconceptions' about central government's schemes and Hindu religion projected in Tamil movie Mersal, and called for a removal of such representations.
"It's their right to project any view but we have to condemn the misconceptions about GST (Goods and Services Tax), demonetisation and digital transaction and also about Hindu sentiments," Soundararajan told ANI on Friday, adding that such views misdirect the public.
The BJP state president also stressed on the impact of celebrities' words on general public.
"When celebrities are talking about certain schemes and misleading the public, it will carry some effect in the minds of people," Soundararajan said.
She further alleged that the central government is being particularly criticized by the filmmakers, who did not raise their voices "when previously corruption was prevalent in our country."
"Who are criticizing the good schemes of our honourable (Prime Minister) Modi ji?...They're unable to reform the ticket sale, they are not disclosing their salary or profit. They're not appreciable tax-payers either," Soundararajan said.
Mersal is a Tamil movie directed by Atlee and co-written by Atlee and Vijayendra Prasad.
