Bihar: People block highway after truck mowed down class 10 student
Residents of Siwan created ruckus at Orma highway after a truck hit and killed a class 10 student on February 5. The incident took place when the minor girl was on her way to coaching class.
Furious over the incident, locals set ablaze the truck and blocked the highway by placing the girl’s body on the road.
The police arrived after being informed of the incident and dispersed the protesters to clear the roadway.
Meanwhile, residents of Katihar’s Dighari Panchayat raised slogans against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the 'Samadhan Yatra'. Protesters alleged that they were not allowed to meet the Chief Minister and express grievances.
The protesters also set effigy of CM Kumar to show their anguish.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's party, Janata Dal United (JDU), launched the Samadhan Yatra in the state to evaluate the government's ongoing programs and assess the status of unfinished projects. During the yatra, JDU leaders are also listening to and recording the public's problems.
