Bhopal child sex racket case: Three including grandmother of victim arrested for luring girls to work for newspaper owner
The Bhopal police has taken three people into custody, including the grandmother of one of the victims, in the horrifying child abuse case in which a city based newspaper owner was sexually exploiting minors for more than eight years.
"We have arrested three more persons including one old lady who is the grandmother of one of the victims. They used to lure girls from poor families and sexually exploit them," an officer said.
So far police have taken four people into custody Pyare Mian's secretary, his driver Anas and his associate Owais and the grandmother of one of the victims who allegedly lured her granddaughter to work as a domestic help at newspaper owner’s residence.
A reward of Rs 30,000 has been declared on newspaper owner's head while a Special Investigative Team (SIT) has been formed to peobe the matter. The SIT is headed by the SP, two DSP rank officers and SHOs of six police stations.
The police have found that newspaper owner (Pyare Mian) was exploiting minor girls for more than eight years raising questions over the political patronage that he getting.
The Congress party has called for a through investigation into Pyare Mian's malfeasance asking how he could do such things for such along time.
"We have come to know about this man's wrongdoings after the recent arrests. Whosoever he is, there should be a thorough inquiry into how he was able to get away with these things for so many years," Congress media department head Jitu Patwari said.
The state government has brought about the process of cancelling the license of Pyare Mian's newspaper and has demolished an illegally built marriage hall and an apartment building which had many flats that was allegedly built on government land.
Police is raiding the properties of Pyare and on Tuesday recovered imported liquor, child pornographic and sex videos among other things from a flat in Ansal Apartments in the Shymla Hills area.
