CM Chandrababu Naidu announced cut-off in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 in Andhra Pradesh, after Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan on the day nationwide shutdown called by oppositions. The new rates of petrol and diesel will come into effect from tomorrow morning, orders for the same will be issued later today.
On Monday, the petrol per litre in Andhra Pradesh were sold at Rs ₹ 85.60 and diesel at Rs 79.22 per litre. And now after Rs 2 cut in each, it may be sold around Rs 83.60 and 77.22 per litre, respectively.
The announced from the Andhra Pradesh government came on the day the oppositions, led by Congress called a nationwide shutdown in a move to protest against the several issues, including the rise in the petrol and diesel prices across India.
In the protests, at least 21 oppositions party participated in the nationwide shutdown protests led by Congress. Rahul Gandhi also participated and lead the protests along with former PM Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi. Left parties and Jana Sena also joined in support of the protests.
Before Naidu, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje government has announced cuts VAT on petrol and diesel by 4% in the state.
Meanwhile, slamming Congress Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Everyone has a right to protest but what is happening today? Petrol pumps and buses being set ablaze, putting to risk lives. A child died after an ambulance was stuck in the protests in Bihar's Jehanabad. Who is responsible?"
