Bengal horror: Man chops wife's body into pieces over suspicion of illicit affair
As details of the gruesome murder of Shraddha Walker, who was murdered by her live-in-partner in the national capital, sent shock waves across the country, a similar case has surfaced from West Bengal's Siliguri.
A man killed his wife over suspicion of an extra marital affair and chopped her body into two halves ahead of disposing them into the Mahananda river. While police have taken the accused into their custody, a search operation is underway to trace the body parts of the woman.
The woman identified as Renuka Khatun, was missing for several days. Her relatives had registered a missing report in the last week of December, as per PTI.
On the basis of the complaint, Siliguri Police launched an investigation into the matter.
In the time of the investigation, police interrogated Renuka's husband, identified as Mohd Ansarul, when he broke down and admitted to killing his wife and cutting the body in two pieces before dumping into the river.
According to police, Ansarul suspected that his wife was having an extramarital affair, after which he decided to kill her. On December 24, Ansarul strangulated his wife before chopping the body into two pieces.
A search operation with the assistance of divers is underway to find Renuka's body pieces.
