Baba Ramdev to shift Rs 2,000 crore Patanjali food park from Uttar Pradesh; blames Adityanath government of not encouraging

The Yoga guru Baba Ramdev is to shift Patanjali Ayurved Limited Rs 2000 crore food park from Uttar Pradesh Greater Noida blaming Yogi Adityanath government. The firm asserted that the lack of cooperation from the state government has led to the relocation of the food park.

“Today I was informed that the central government-sanctioned mega food park had been cancelled... in the holy land of Ram and Krishna, the scheme to bring prosperity to the lives of farmers is incomplete due to the apathy of the state government,” Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna said on Twitter.

Balkrishna told PTI that Patanjali did not get the required clearances from the state government. Acharya Balkrishna also said the company hadn't been able to complete the formalities needed to qualify for the centre's food park scheme because the Uttar Pradesh government had been dragging its feet on the paperwork.

"We did not get any cooperation from the state government for this project. We have waited for a long time for clearances but could not get from the state government. Now we have decided to shift the project." Acharya Balkrishna, managing director of the fast-growing consumer goods giant said.

According to news agency ANI, around 455 acres of land was allocated for the Patanjali Food and Herbal Park in Greater Noida. Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had laid the foundation of this park in 2016.

Acharya Balkrishna is the 98.6 per cent owner of the privately-held company Patanjali, co-founded by Yoga guru Baba Ramdev. The yoga guru hasn't yet commented on the decision. According to Forbes Billionaires list, Acharya Balkrishna is the world's 274th richest individual and the 19th richest Indian with a net worth of $6.3 billion.
