Ayodhya case: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Justice Kalifullah And Sriram Panchu; all about 3 men named as mediators
On the political controversial Ayodhya land dispute hearing, the Supreme Court on Friday ordered a mediation to settle the Ram-Mandir, Babri Masjid land dispute. The three-member panel comprises Sri Sri Ravishankar, Justice Kalifulla and Sriram Panchu. The panel has been given eight weeks by the Supreme Court to arrive at a conclusion and four weeks to give a status report. However, they also have been given liberty by the court to get more people on board if they want. The entire proceedings of the mediation panel will take place in Faizabad.
Notably, The apex court in its verdict on Ayodhya case also said that Justice Kalifulla will be the chairman and the mediation panel proceedings will remain confidential and media cannot publish details of proceedings of the same.
Justice FM Kalifulla
A 68-year-old Justice Fakkir Mohamed Ibrahim Kalifulla is the retired judge of the Supreme Court of India and a son of Late Justice M Fakkir Mohamed. Kalifulla started his career in August 1975 as an advocate. He was appointed as a judge of the Madras High Court in 2000. In 2012, Kalifulla was named to the Supreme Court and retired on 22 July 2016.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
A 62-year-old spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who has been leading a worldwide movement for a violence-free society has been appointed to be a part of the three-member mediation panel in the Ayodhya case. He had been advocating for a constructive dialogue between the opposing parties on Ram Janambhoomi land dispute. Sri Sri founded The Art of Living as an international, non-profit, educational and humanitarian organization.
Sriram Panchu:
Sriram Panchu is a senior advocate and mediator in the Ayodhya land dispute case. The 69- year-old Panchu is a founder of The Mediation Chambers, which offers services in mediation and med-arb. Also, Panchu is a certified mediator on the panel of the Singapore International Mediation Centre and also has mediated international commercial disputes. He has played a key role in making mediation a part of India's legal system.
