Atal Bihari Vajpayee Immersion: Former PM's ashes to be immersed in Ganga at Haridwar; sea of supporters emerges to pay last tribute
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Awardee's ashes to be immersed in various holy rivers across the country. The beginning of the Vajpayee's immersion will be done with the Ganga at Haridwar, Uttarakhand on Sunday. In the immersion ceremony of the former PM and veteran leader, a sea of supporters and party leaders emerges to pay their last tribute to one of the gems that India lost this week.
In the immersion ceremony at the holy city the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, his Uttarakhand counterpart Trivendra Singh Rawat among others are present along with BJP leader Bhupender Yadav. Other than them, BJP President Amit Shah also take part in former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's 'Asthi Kalash Yatra'. The ashes will be taken to Prem Ashram, then to Har-ki-Pauri for immersion.
Vajpayee's adopted daughter Namita and granddaughter Niharika have collected the ashes from Rashtriya Smriti Sthal in Delhi and will be heading to Prem Ashram and then to Har-ki-Pauri in Haridwar, reports.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a three-time Prime Minister passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on August 16 evening after a prolonged illness. He was 93-year-old. The Centre has announced seven-day nationwide mourn till 22nd August.
