Assam: Angry locals take to streets, protest against rape

Scores of people took to the streets to protest, demanding death penalty to the culprits who allegedly raped a girl and murdered her later.

Women and men holding placards and banners gathered, raising slogan and demanding the death penalty.

Earlier, six people, all likely minors, were arrested on charges of allegedly raping and murdering a 21-year-old woman.

The accused allegedly raped and killed the girl when she was returning from a cultural programme and her body was found hanging from a tree.
