Asaduddin Owaisi claims donating for construction or praying at Ayodhya Masjid is 'haraam'
Hours after All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi dubbed a mosque in Ayodhya ‘haraam’, secretary of the Ayodhya Mosque Trust, Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF), Athar Hussain stated that his comments were within the ambit of his political ideals.
Speaking at an event on Tuesday, the AIMIM chief stated that the Ayodhya mosque was against Islamic belief and further added that people should not contribute for its construction or offer prayers.
Talking to the Times of India, Athar Hussain stated that no piece of land on this earth can be ‘haraam’, where namaz is offered to Allah.
Asaduddin Owaisi comes from a place which has not seen the struggle or felt the trauma of the first war of independence, Hussain told TOI.
Furthermore, Hussain stated that it’s possible that his ancestors never took part in the 1857 revolt against the British.
Terming Awadh as a fusion of revolution, Hussain said that the IICF centre in Ayodhya is dedicated to Ahmadullah Shah, who liberated Faizabad from the British for a short time.
Is paying homage to the martyrdom of Ahmadullah Shah by naming the centre after him, ‘haraam’ too, Hussain asked Owaisi.
The AIMIM chief said he was speaking after taking views from religious scholars and claimed that even ulemas from All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) said that it shouldn’t be called a masjid and prayers cannot be offered there.
In response to this, Athar Hussain said, “I don’t think our charity hospital, which will heal and serve hundreds of sick and infirm free of cost will be haraam.”
He further stated that providing food for hungry is part of their religion adding that their community kitchen would cook for 2,000 people each day.
With that being said, the process for starting the construction of a mosque in Ayodhya began on Republic Day.
