As CAG points towards corruption and irregularities, Arvind Kejriwal says “No one will be spared”
After the Comptroller and auditor general (CAG) of India pointed out “corruption and irregularities” in construction of roads and public distribution system, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that action will be taken in those case and no one will be spared.
Even the government sources claimed that the AAP dispensation is mulling to refer such matters for CBI inquiry.
“"Exemplary action will be taken against the guilty in each case of corruption or irregularity pointed by CAG. No one will be spared (sic)," Kejriwal tweeted.
According to sources, at least 50 cases from the CAG report have been pointed out by the government so far and the report is being studied for more such cases to be referred to the CBI prob.
"At least 50 cases from the CAG report have been identified to be sent to CBI for inquiry. The report is being studied and the number of cases to be sent to CBI may increase. The chief minister himself is looking into the report,” PTI quoted the source.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had warned of punishing anyone, be it a minister or any officer, responsible for the lapses.
In his speech in the House on the CAG report, Sisodia talked about several “shortcomings and lapses” in the construction of roads and public distribution system. He also had hit out at Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and bureaucrats.
"The CAG report has helped us in identifying rigidities in the system. We will remove the shortcomings and take action against those responsible, be it ministers or officers," Mr Sisodia said.
