Arun Jaitley birth anniversary: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar unveils statue of former finance minister
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday unveiled a statue of former finance minister Arun Jaitley in Patna on his birth anniversary. Among others, Jaitley's family and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi were also present at the event.
The Bihar CM also paid tributes to the late Union Minister on the occasion.
The late BJP leader's son Rohan Jaitley said: "Arun Jaitely had a deep connection with Bihar as a State. He has been a big influence in the expansion of the party in the State. There has been a big contribution of Arun Jaitley in terms of social work. This also helped to build a strong relationship between both the leaders."
On the other hand, Home Minister Amit Shah, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Anurag Thakur also remembered BJP leader Arun Jaitley on his 67th birth anniversary.
Taking Twitter Shah wrote: Remembering Arun Jaitley ji with a heavy heart on his birth anniversary. He was an outstanding parliamentarian, one of our most valuable leaders, a great thinker, orator, who could marshal up cogent arguments steeped in facts and history, effortlessly. Indian polity misses him.
Earlier this year in August, Nitish Kumar had announced that a statue of the former Finance Minister will be installed in the State. He had also said that Jaitley's birth anniversary will be celebrated as a State function every year.
Jaitley passed away on August 24 this year at AIIMS in Delhi. He was 66. He was cremated with full state honors at the Nigambodh Ghat in the national capital on August 25.
