Amid protests, LS Speaker asks all parties to cooperate
In an all-party meeting of the Lok Sabha members on Wednesday, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan requested all to cooperate and abide by the procedures of the House in raising their issues.
"I have spoken to all the members and asked them to cooperate. Showing of placards, coming inside the Well of the House is unacceptable and it gives a bad picture to the outside world," Mahajan told reporters after the meeting.
At the meeting, Mahajan conveyed that the Lok Sabha is there to give permission for raising issues but that immediate solution is not possible.
Mahajan also expressed confidence in achieving a positive outcome from the meeting, "I hope something good comes out of this conversation. I will see, if not today, it may be in two or three days."
This comes in the backdrop of several protests being carried out in the Parliament over multiple issues.
Lately, the Opposition parties have been staging demonstrations against the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs are also holding similar protests over demands for special category status to the state of Andhra Pradesh
