Amarnath attack: LeT mastermind Abu Ismail gunned down by security forces in Srinagar
In a furious gun battle among security forces and terrorits, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief and Pakistani national Abu Ismail was gunned down in Aarigam area of Nowgam on the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday, police said.
Ismail was involved in Amarnath attack earlier this year.
Talking to the media here, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar said, "This is a huge achievement. The terrorist was responsible for the attack on Amarnath Yatra."
As many as seven people were killed and fifteen others injured after a group of terrorists opened fire on a bus carrying 17 pilgrims from Baltal to Mir Bazar on July 10.
The authorities have blocked 4G mobile internet services in the city following the killing of LeT commander.
