Alert! DTC Strike: Around 3500 buses to go off road today as drivers and conductors go on one-day strike
Around 3500 Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses will reportedly go offthe roads in the national capital on Monday. As per reports the Contractual employees – drivers and conductors of the Delhi Transport Corporation will go on one-day strike demanding better pay and working conditions.
As per reports, the DTC workers Unity Centre has already served the notice on day strike on or the October 29, which is also supported by other trade unions in DTC such as the DTC Workers Union (affiliated to All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and the DTC Employees Congress (affiliated to Indian National Trade Union Congress’s (INTUC)).
AICCTU Secretary Abhishek said, “Around 12,000 contract workers are overworked.” The contractual employees had begun their strike over the demands of restoring their wages reduced by the by DTC after a court order.
The L-G has stated DTC services as essential and has prohibited the strike by contractual employees, the corporation said in the statement. The ESMA will be in force for six months.
The president of DTC Contractual Workers Union, Manoj Sharma asserted that the strike would continue indefinitely. “Many cops are here, and they might detain us to end the strike, he said.
