Ajit Pawar on floor test: Tri-party alliance has passed first test and is confident of clearing second
Following the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s comfortable victory in the floor test in Maharashtra Assembly on Saturday, Nationalist Congress party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar stated that the tri-party has passed the first test and was positive of passsing the second test vis-a-vis election of the speaker.
"We have passed the first exam of floor test and the second test is for the speaker's post and we are confident of clearing it too," he said.
NCP’s Nawab Malik threw brickbats at the BJP for walking out of the state Assembly prior to the floor test stating that the party was only trying to save face.
"Oath taking ceremony was conducted, Vidhan Sabha session held and Pro tem speaker appointed with the consent of the Governor and floor test was held as per the orders of the Supreme Court. BJP is only trying to save face," he said.
After weeks of political tug of war, Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance, on Saturday easily won the floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly with 169 voters in favour.
Ahead of the floor test proceeding, opposition MLAs put on a walkout from the Assembly alleging that the special session was not held according to rules.
