AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran launched new party, named it after Jayalalilta 'Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam'
After a spree of legal battles for the control of AIDMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam), one of its claimants TVV Dhinakaran launched its new party and named it after the former head of the AIDMK and ex-CM of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa - Amma Makkal Munetra Kazhagam.
Launching the party, Dhinakaran, who have been locking horns with O Panneerselvam and the present Chief Minister of Edappadi K Palaniswami, said that they will fight every election under this party.
“"We will contest the ensuing elections in the Cooker symbol. Our goal is to retrieve AIADMK and it’s symbol "Two Leaves" from the betrayers - O Panneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami," Dhinakaran said while addressing his supporters at Melur in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu.
The flag of the newly formed party also carries a picture of J Jayalalithaa.
Explaining the agenda of the new-born party, Dhinakaran said “Our party will strive for the uplift of poor and work for the welfare of farmers. We will retrieve the state's right in Cauvery river water. We will not allow the establishment of any projects against the wishes of the people. We will work realising Jayalalithaa's dream of making the state, a model state, in the industrial development. Besides, we will create new employment opportunities for youths. With these promises, we are ready to face the elections anytime whether it is the local body or Parliamentary polls. We will emerge victorious”.
Earlier, the Election Commission on 23 November had allotted ‘two leaves’ the symbol of the AIDMK to the faction led by Chief Minister K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam.
Panneerelvam is the coordinator of the AIADMK and Palaniswami is the joint coordinator.
In the meantime of the conflict between two factions Sasikala and Panneerselvam, Dhinakaran registered a victory in the by-election held on the seat of late Jayalalitha RK Nagar. Dhinakara had told the court that he needs temporary name and symbol to fight elections so that they can interact with the electorate in the eventuality of elections to local bodies or any other polls.
