After Shantaram Naik, Raj Babbar resigns from UP Congress chief
Days after Shantaram Naik’s resignation from the post of Goa Congress Chief, Raj Babbar now resigned from the post of UP Congress chief, a party source said to the media persons.
As per India Today’s report, he will continue working as the state party president unless his resignation is accepted. It is also being reported that the party may replace Raj Babbar with a prominent leader from the Brahmin community. Jitin Prasad, Rajesh Mishra and Laliteshpati Tripathi are the potential candidate for the Congress chief in UP.
But former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Salman said the speculation about the congress party should be avoided. As per his comments, the reports of Babbar’s resignation are speculations not fact. One should not jump on to the conclusion about such news.
“We should at least wait for the announcement and not introspect. The Congress president said he wanted to revitalise the party and take the best advantage of young people and old people too," Kurshid told ANI.
The resignation of Raj Babbar came in the wake of defeat of Congress party in the recent bypolls held in Gorakhpur and Phulpur.
Earlier, Naik had resigned from the position of Goa Congress chief. But he cited the reason for his resignation the speech of the Rahul Gandhi in which he called for change of generation in the congress leadership. He reportedly said Congress leader should make way for new leaders.
