Adhir Chowdhury demands to declare Abhinandan Varthaman’s moustache ‘national moustache’; Twitterati call, ‘Bengali Pappu’
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, the Congress’ legislative leader raised a bizarre demand in the Lok Sabha that Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s gunslinger moustache should be declared the national mustache on Monday (24th June).
Ranjan added that IAF Wing Commander should be awarded for his bravery. This decision will surely boost the confidence of Indian security forces.
Abhinandan Varthaman was applauded for his bravery when he was captured by the Pakistan Army when his MiG-21 crashed in Pak during the air strike. After returning to India from Pak’s captivity after two days, not only Abhinandan’s bravery but his moustache style also became the talk of the town.
Many people called him the real 'hero' while many kept moustache just like IAF Wing Commander.
Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistan Air Force (PAF) when his aircraft crashed during the aerial dogfight with PAF on February 27 to take the revenge of Pulwama terror attack on CRPF convoy on February 14th, 2019.
However, he was released on 1st March 2019. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed a joint session of the National Assembly and said that they are releasing the Wing Commander as a ‘peace gesture’. Pak PM also added, "India-Pakistan situation should not 'get out of hand' and announced that Abhinandan Varthaman will be released."
